Primary Care IT Systems

The NHS North West London primary care digital tool website pages, have been developed to provide information, advice and support on the digital offering available to our GP practices, primary care networks (PCNs), and other healthcare colleagues working within primary care services, signposting updates on existing and new technology.

Our vision

Our vision is to empower individuals to achieve optimal health and well-being through innovative and compassionate care, while fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and equity within North West London.

Our scope

NHS North West London provides two GP IT Systems to our Practices. These are EMIS Web, provided by the EMIS Group, and SystmOne, provided by TPP.  NW London general practices and their PCNs have decided to implement their system of choice.

We offer a comprehensive training programme for both clinical systems, which can be accessed via our NWL Learning Hub

We also offer support for products and services that work alongside the clinical systems, including implementation, testing, configuration, trouble-shooting and problem resolution.

We have four teams within Primary Care IT Systems, supporting staff working in GP and PCN providers in North West London.

Our system developers design, develop, test, implement and manage the availability of clinical systems tools within EMIS Web and SystmOne IT systems, to all GP practices and PCNs within NW London

Our accredited facilitators ensure that all users of EMIS Web and SystmOne IT systems in NW London have access to best practice techniques and processes to ensure that their systems are used in the most efficient and effective manner

Our trainers provide accredited clinical systems training for both of EMIS Web and SystmOne IT systems in NW London. All of our training is supported with a suite of resources, available to all Primary Care staff via the NW London Learning Hub.

Our team expertly manages Role-Based-Access through NHSE Smartcards to all Primary Care Staff in GP practices, PCNs and Pharmacies in NW London. They ensure that roles within the organisations that we support have the correct level of access to patient data through EMIS Web and SystmOne IT systems.

The London Care Record (LCR) is an innovative digital platform designed to collate summary information from multiple health and care source systems. This integrated solution allows health and care providers to access and contribute to a comprehensive collection of patient information, ensuring a complete and up-to-date picture of each patient's health and care history and needs.

Access to the LCR is seamlessly integrated within your local electronic patient record system through an in-context link. For patients, secondary care data is easily accessible via the NHS App, empowering them to stay informed about their health. Meanwhile, GPs and clinicians in primary care settings can view this vital clinical information directly within their clinical systems.

By providing immediate access to secondary and elective care data, the LCR enhances continuity of care for both clinicians and patients, supporting more informed decision-making and better health outcomes.

Rego, developed by Vantage, is a cutting-edge digital platform designed to streamline the process of accessing specialist advice for GPs. This integration aims to simplify collaboration between clinicians in primary care and acute hospitals.

Within primary care settings, clinicians can initiate an Advice & Guidance request through Rego to access secondary and elective care services. This capability empowers GPs and consultants to commence patient treatment within the primary care setting whenever feasible. Additionally, it allows for the conversion of requests into referrals if deemed necessary, ultimately reducing rejections and inappropriate referrals.
